We are delighted to announce that David Williams has been appointed as house for duty priest in the North Monmouthshire Ministry Area, with particular care for the Llanddewi Rhydderch Pastoral District.David was born in Andover, Hampshire in 1958 and attended Church each week from a young age, which is where his faith was nurtured, thanks to his parents who were both Christian (his father a Welsh Methodist from Bridgend). From his early days as a chorister, at 16 years old, he invited Jesus into his life and led the Christian Union at his secondary school. At the age of 10, his mother tells of a visit to St David’s Cathedral, where he went into the pulpit and spoke, and has had a deep sense of calling on his life since childhood.He read theology at London University from 1978-1981 and went on to study for the priesthood at Ripon college, Cuddesdon, Oxford. After being ordained in 1984, he has served in town and country Churches in Winchester Diocese and Oxford Diocese and has had particular involvement in the training of Curates and Lay Ministers, discipleship and mission, the discernment of vocations, overseas links, and pilgrimage.As to hobbies, David has a great love of music, rugby and hill walking. He is married to Jo, has three children Hannah, Abby and Huw and five grandchildren and a young labrador named Lily (Lilwen).David will begin his role at the start of 2025.
