Archbishop's Chaplain announcement

Archbishop Cherry is delighted to announce the appointment of Rev'd Dr Jeremy Heuslein as Archbishop’s Chaplain and Pioneer Priest in the Tredegar Park Ministry (with responsibility for St John the Baptist in Newport).
Originally from the United States, Jeremy has been in Wales for three years, where he has served in Llandaff Diocese.
Announcing the appointment, Archbishop Cherry, says: “It will be a great joy to welcome Jeremy to his new role as Archbishop’s Chaplain. After a year without a chaplain, I am very much looking forward to working with him as a supportive colleague in the diocese and the province alongside Vicki, my EA.
“Jeremy will also have a part-time, non-stipendiary pioneer role at St John’s Risca Road, working with them in the wider MA and in the local community. He and his family are in my prayers as they prepare to move to Stow Hill and begin a new chapter in their lives.”
Jeremy came to Wales via a decade in Belgium, where he completed his MA and PhD in Philosophy and discerned a call to ordained ministry. After moving from Belgium to train at Ripon College Cuddesdon in Oxfordshire, he arrived in Wales in June 2023 to serve his curacy in the Pontypridd Ministry Area.
Speaking about his new ministry, he says: “I am excited to be taking on these new roles: as Chaplain, supporting the Archbishop in her ministry across our wonderful province; and as Pioneer Priest, serving alongside the team in the Tredegar Park Ministry Area, especially the community at St John the Baptist’s.”
Jeremy is married to Natalie, and they have three daughters. Jeremy enjoys reading, cycling, and exploring Wales with his family and tries to keep up with their much better Welsh!
Jeremy will take up this new role following his licensing in September – details to follow. Please pray for him and his family as they prepare for this new chapter of ministry over the coming weeks.
