Job Title: Archbishop of Wales’s Chaplain
Salary: Grade F - £45,928 per annum
Location: Archbishop of Wales’s Office – Bishopstow, Newport
Contract: 3-year, fixed term appointment
Reporting to: The Archbishop of Wales/ Chief Operating Officer
Hours of Work: Full time (34.75 hours per week)
The archbishop is elected from amongst the six serving diocesan bishops in Wales. The most recent election was in July this year when the current Bishop of Monmouth was elected as Archbishop. She continues to serve as Bishop of Monmouth and is supported by an Executive Assistant, a Public Affairs Advisor and a Chaplain.
The essence of the role is to support the archbishop in theological, liturgical and pastoral matters relating to her ministry in the diocese, the province and across the Anglican communion.
Essential
A priest of good standing ordained in the Church in Wales or a church in communion with it who has been in priest’s orders for at least five years;
- Strong and proven organisations skills
- Strong pastoral and liturgical skills
- Ability to work under pressure and be proactive when time is less pressured
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- A commitment to excellence
- A degree, academic equivalent or background in theology or ministry
- A willingness to use some liturgical Welsh
- An empathy with the mission and ministry of the Church in Wales
Desirable
- An understanding of the Church in Wales, the role of its bishops and its governance structures.
- A willingness to learn Welsh
- Experience of using SharePoint as a file repository system
- An understanding of the purpose and structures of the Church in Wales
- Welsh language skills/the ability to communicate in Welsh
