"I grew up in a Christian home but chased the thrill of weekends. Deep down, I longed for my parents’ faith. One day, facing a tough truth, I prayed God wouldn’t leave me. In my parents’ embrace, I felt His presence. Since then, He’s been my strength. Life with Christ isn’t easy, but it’s the best decision I ever made!"
After growing up in an amazing Christian household it didn’t mean that I made the right decisions always.
My parents had a faith I was slightly jealous of and at the age of 19 years old when grey roots and wrinkles were nowhere in sight I was living my best life! I would live for the weekend and the club life with friends was all I worked and waited for.
I did have a toe dipped in the Christian camp though as the desire to know more about Christ and have the peace and faith that my Mum and Dad possessed was something that scratched at my soul.
In a situation one day that threatened to turn my life on its head, I remember sitting on the stairs and facing the decision to come clean. I knew this wasn’t going to be easy, but if God really existed was He going to be at my side as I told the truth and turned my back on lies??? I found myself praying He wouldn't leave me.
The moment came to face the truth and through the arms of my parents wrapped around me, I knew it was God. ‘You told the truth and that’s what matters’ were the words that came next that I will never forget, because although they came from my parents mouth I felt them straight from the heart of God…. and that's been my journey with Him ever since, in the moments of brokenness and weakness He has been my strength, my rock and my absolute best friend!
Life as a Christian is not a bed of roses, it’s hard, we make mistakes, but life with God is an absolute rollercoaster, it’s a life you need to buckle up for, it’s an exciting life and it’s a life I wouldn’t swap for the world. Christ is the absolute best decision I ever made!
