Statement from the Representative Body on Bangor Cathedral

In response to the serious situation in the Diocese of Bangor and its Cathedral, the Representative Body has issued a statement following its meeting last week.

The statement highlights the responsibilities that the RB members have, as charity trustees, in fulfilling their duties and in seeking both to address and to prevent for the future the ‘safeguarding failures, blurred boundaries, inappropriate conduct, weak control environment and lack of transparency in management’ that have arisen in Bangor.

Bishop Cherry says: "Whilst we have gone a long way in this diocese to address the change in culture that was required back in 2019, we cannot and must not be complacent. The statement from the RB is a pertinent reminder that we need to continue to ensure that a healthy culture, based on Christ-like values, is embedded at every level in our life together.
