New vicar for Islwyn Ministry Area
The Bishop of Monmouth is pleased to announce that Revd Lisa Taylor has been appointed as Vicar in the Islwyn Ministry Area.
Lisa is currently serving as a Vicar in the Mynydd Bedwellte Ministry Area, but is a familiar face in the neighbouring Islwyn Ministry Area having previously served there as an ordinand and curate.
Bishop Cherry, said: “I am pleased that Lisa will be continuing to work in the valleys, albeit in a different Ministry Area. Her heart is in the community and she brings considerable pastoral gifts to her ministry. Her work with the local schools has been exceptional and I am delighted that the focus on her ministry in this new role will be with children, young people and families.”
In accepting the role, Rev Lisa Taylor, said: "I have been both an ordinand and a curate in the Islwyn Ministry Area; the people and the places of worship left an imprint in my heart and I feel blessed to have an opportunity to return to the ministry area and serve them as a team vicar. I am looking forward to renewing old relationships and making many new relationships to further God's kingdom and bring the joy of the Good News of Jesus Christ and the love of God to a new generation."
A special licensing service will be held at St Thomas’ Church in Cefn Forest on 7th January at 4pm.
