New appointment for Tredegar, Rhymney and Abertysswg
Congratulations to Revd Matt Davis who will take up the post of Team Rector (ministry area leader designate) for Tredegar, Rhymney and Abertysswg after Easter.
Reptile-loving Revd Matt is already a familiar face around the diocese as he is currently Assistant Curate of Cyncoed Ministry Area in Cardiff.
The Bishop of Monmouth, the Right Revd Cherry Vann, says: “Matt brings tremendous energy and enthusiasm to all that he does and is committed to ensuring that the church reaches out into the local community with the good news of the gospel in all kinds of ways.
“He has a particular passion for working with children and young people and has a real gift for connecting with those who have no experience of faith or church.
“I am delighted that Matt will be continuing his ministry in this diocese, as Young Vocations Officer as well as in this new Ministry Area Leader post.”
Biography:
Hi, I am Matt, I'm currently serving as Assistant Curate of Cyncoed Ministry Area, Cardiff. Although I originally come from Birmingham, I've spent the last 12 years in Wales and have been working within the Diocese of Monmouth for 9 of them, starting in The Lab looking at pioneering new forms of church and then as curate.
I am really excited to be moving to serve the area of Tredegar, Rhymney and Abertysswg. I'll bring the whole family with me: Jess, my wife and children Clara 5 and Orson 2 (along with the plants, snake and geckos).
I love concerts, being outdoors, watching the Cardiff Devils play ice hockey (I know the irony is not lost), woodworking and spending time with friends and family.
I look forward to getting to know everyone in the area and discovering where God is leading us to in the future and growing together as this ministry area.
