Churches Development Officer
Location: Diocesan Office (with travel across the Diocese)
Salary: £31,581 per annum
Contract: Full-time (evening and weekend work may be required)
Reporting to: Ministry Area Support Officer
Are you passionate about church buildings, community engagement, and sustainable development? We are seeking a dynamic and organised Churches Development Officer to lead and support strategic projects that enhance the mission and sustainability of churches across our Diocese.
About the Role
This is a key position focused on:
- Managing major church building projects from inception to completion.
- Championing community-focused initiatives that reflect the Church’s mission.
- Securing funding through compelling grant applications and strategic planning.
- Building strong relationships with clergy, lay leaders, contractors, and external partners.
- Collaborating across the Church in Wales to share best practice and contribute to wider development strategies.
You’ll be based at the diocesan office, with regular travel to churches and project sites. Flexibility is essential, as some evening and weekend work will be required.
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
- Proven project management experience, ideally in church or heritage contexts.
- A strong understanding of grant funding processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A commitment to the mission and values of the Church in Wales.
Knowledge of church governance and Welsh heritage funding bodies is desirable.
