Discipleship: Growing More Like Jesus

Disgyblaeth: Tyfu mwy fel Iesu

Discipleship is about learning to live in deeper relationship with Jesus and becoming more like him. Rooted in the Greek word for “learner,” it reflects the journey of growing in faith, walking alongside Christ, and sharing his love with others.

Jesus calls us to follow him daily - denying ourselves, embracing his way, and proclaiming the Good News.

Discipleship encourages us to:

  • Strengthen our relationship with God and one another
  • Engage confidently with Scripture and prayer
  • Celebrate the gift of fellowship
  • Share our faith and nurture new believers

This journey reflects the heart of the Gospel and the first two Marks of Mission: to proclaim the Kingdom and to teach, baptise, and nurture.

Ways of growing our discipleship include worship and fellowship, as well as individual prayer and bible reading. Small groups also offer a really good way of thinking more deeply about our questions of faith. There are many different courses/ studies available – some of the diocesan ones can be found HERE

As Jesus said:

"Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me." (Luke 9:23)
