The Diocese of Monmouth offers a range of grants to support your Ministry Area in caring for church buildings and churchyards.Grant Deadlines 2026February 11thMay 27thAugust 26thOctober 28thFull grant criteria can be found HERE.Large Building GrantAvailable funding: Up to £5,000Purpose: To support significant repair, improvement, or re-ordering works on church buildings, halls, or related facilities.Eligible works include:Structural or fabric repairs (walls, roof, windows, etc.)Installation or upgrade of essential facilities — for example, new toilets or kitchensInternal re-ordering or layout changes to better serve worship, community or mission needsHow to apply:Carefully read grant guidance document to ensure eligibility and project matches grant criteria.Download and complete the Large Building Grant Application form Large Building Grant (Word) (Skip Eco section)Once the grant form is complete return the form and all supporting evidence to Calumglanville-ellis@churchinwales.comSmall Building GrantAvailable funding: Up to £1000Purpose: Support with small urgent repair works to church fabric including halls.Eligible works include:Small maintenance or repair worksInvestigatory works before a larger projectProfessional reports related to projects to do with Church fabric (e.g. bat survey, statement of significance or structural engineer’s report).How to apply:Applications to this grant scheme can apply at anytimeCarefully read grant guidance document to ensure eligibility and project matches grant criteriaDownload and complete the Small Building Grant Application form Small Building Grant (Word)Once the grant form is complete return the form and all supporting evidence to Calumglanville-ellis@churchinwales.comEco GrantAvailable: Up to £12,500 (£7,500 from the RB and a round up of £5000 from Diocese Large Building Grant)Purpose: To support project that improve church buildings environmental performance and sustainability.Eligible works include:Works to improve heat retentionUpgrading heating systems away from fossil fuels/sustainability reducing relianceUpgrading electrical systems to reduce energy use.
