Diocese

‘Diocese’ refers to the geographical territory in which a bishop exercises oversight. The Church in Wales is divided into six dioceses each with its own cathedral in which is housed the cathedra (the bishop’s ‘chair’ or ‘throne’).

Priest

‘Priest’ comes from the Greek word for ‘elder’. Priests in the Church in Wales are those authorised specifically to proclaim forgiveness of sins, preside at the Eucharist and bless God’s people, as well as other responsibilities.

DIOCESE OF MONMOUTH: ESGOBAETH MYNWY

HEART OF MONMOUTHSHIRE MINISTRY AREA

We are looking for a priest to be based in the lovely village of Goetre and primarily working with churches around that area, however, they will also be part of a new Ministry Team covering the Heart of Monmouthshire Ministry Area which has 20 church buildings and distinct communities.

  • Caring - has a strong pastoral heart and passion for encouraging the members of each of the congregations in discipleship.
  • Collaborative in nature - working well with the Ministry Team, lay and ordained, within the Ministry Area and is a good team player
  • Committed to and understanding of the special nature of rural ministry with a desire to serve these communities and farming networks.
  • Creative and imaginative in their approach to working with children, young people and families in schools and across the Ministry Area.

We are striving to be an inclusive diocese and would welcome applications from all suitably qualified clerics.

If you think this could be you then we would very much like to hear from you.
