People from across the diocese are being invited to abseil down a 72ft tower to raise money for charity.St Tewdrics Church in Chepstow is hosting the charity abseil on Saturday 29th November from 9am and is looking for brave participants to join in.Funds raised from the event with be donated to both the Severn Area Rescue Association and the St Tewdrics church repair fund.Revd Barney Pimentel, who will be one of the first to step into the harness make his way down the tower, said: “It would be wonderful if people could join us in this challenge that combines courage, community and compassion!“Come and join us as we climb the winding stairs of our ancient tower, built in the 1480s. Step out onto the roof, take in the stunning view, and then follow the vicar over the edge! Abseil down the outside, admiring the wonderful restoration work completed this summer on your way to the ground.”“Every donation helps in improving lives, supporting families, and building a stronger community.”SARA is a volunteer lifeboat and inland search and rescue charity, with seven lifeboats and rescue stations. It operates inshore lifeboats on the tidal Rivers Severn, Wye and Usk, and provides inland water and land search & rescue across the Severn Area.
