A vicar from Manchester, with a ‘very soft-spot for South Wales’, will be taking up her new post in Mid Torfaen at Easter.Revd Kate O'Sullivan, who is currently the Assistant Curate of the Parish of St Chrysostom, Manchester, has been appointed as the new Ministry Area Leader of the Mid Torfaen Ministry Area.The Bishop of Monmouth, The Right Reverend Cherry Vann, says: “Kate brings with her experience of working in teams, knowledge of community development, gifts for encouraging individuals and churches, a passion for social justice and a deep desire to proclaim the love of God in Christ Jesus.“We are excited that Kate is coming to join us in South Wales and look forward to working alongside her and to her contribution to the life of the communities of Mid Torfaen and the wider Diocese.”We look forward to offering Revd Kate and her family a warm, Welsh welcome when they join us in the Spring.Biography:Hello, I'm Kate O’Sullivan, and currently serving in a very diverse multicultural parish in the centre of Manchester. I have 3 grown up daughters: Alicia, Flora and Cecily who is engaged to Shakeel; they are all a source of fun and joy to me.I'm really delighted to be coming to Mid Torfaen and getting to know everyone and being part of your community. There's lots to do as we work together in sharing God's love across the Ministry Area, but I'm hoping there will be lots of joy and laughter along the way.Before ordination, I was a Project Manager at a drop-in centre for Homeless and Vulnerable people, I have worked as a volunteer counsellor in prison, working with both men and women. My last post was as a Service Manager, overseeing 4 Mental Wellbeing Services delivered across the North West of England.In my spare time I love cooking, offering hospitality, theatre, concerts, singing and I'm an avid reader, particularly Scandi crime novels (very common amongst clergy!). I have a very soft spot for South Wales, following a long association that goes back to the 1980s. I look forward to joining you during Eastertide.
