Church-goers help support a school in Kenya

A service collection of £378 was presented to Goytre Fawr School to help support its twin primary school in Kiraro, Kenya.

The money was collected by the combined parishes of Goetre Fawr at a special service to celebrate Rev Stephen Smith’s first communion following his recent ordination.

A cheque was presented to headteacher Nicola Sutherland by Rev John Collier and his wife Jayne during an assembly before the summer holidays.

Rev Collier said: “The schools are in regular contact, and currently there is a drought in Kenya so even feeding the children is a challenge. The £378 raised will be a welcome help to the school in addition to the funds already given by Goytre Fawr School.

“This message of support for those suffering in poverty is an important one to foster in our young people, and so this twinning initiative brings benefits to both schools.”
