Teachers share baptism with pupils

Baptism 4 (1)

It was a very special start to the new term for staff and pupils of Henllys Church in Wales School when they celebrated the baptism of two teachers.

Rebecca Kent and Jane Ferhlin were baptised during a special service, presided over by Bishop Richard Pain.

Rev Becca Stevens, Assistant Curate of The Rectorial Benefice of Cwmbran, Young Vocations Advisor for Monmouth Diocese, said: “It is always joyful to welcome two new members of the church family, but it was a privilege to be there when two teaching assistants decided to be baptised in an assembly – witnessed and shared with the children they work alongside.

“There was an undoubted sense of excitement and joy!”

Once they had dried off – the staff were presented with certificates, cards and presents from children of the Worship Centre.

Eve Rowlands, Deputy Headteacher, said: “It was a wonderful service and such a special experience for Becky and Jane.

“The children really enjoyed being part of it and learnt so much from the whole experience.”
