The Holywell Community in Abergavenny is on the look out for a new member to join them as resident musician.
The Community, which is attached to St Mary’s Priory Church in Abergavenny, is recruiting a ‘Concentor’, a Lay member who will act as lead musician. Ideally suited to a young composer or performing musician, who is hoping to take some time out to explore working as a musician in a specifically Christian situation, the role combines following the Rule of Life of the Community with taking specific time out to concentrate on refining and developing musical skills.
Revd Canon Mark Soady, Prior of the Holywell Community says: “St Mary’s has significant resources in terms of buildings and instruments, its choral tradition, music staff and the opportunity to work with young people. The range of services would allow the opportunity to compose and try out new material on a regular basis; providing the church with new and innovative music that would strengthen and deepen its worshiping life.
“The on-going chance to experience full-time monastic life and daily saying of the psalms will provide a deepening of faith and understanding of the rhythm of scripture.”
